Cleveland Browns honor members from US Navy

10.20.2006

During the October 22nd game vs. Denver, the Cleveland Browns will honor the following heroes from the United States Navy.

BU2 Doug Shaner

BU2 Shaner was deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait with Amphibious Construction Battalion 2 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He provided support and maintenance to help improve living conditions for over 45,000 troops.

CM1 John Sigmund

CM1 Sigmund supported the maintenance and repair of the generators at Camp Arifjan, many of which provided prime power to mission critical facilities. CM1 Sigmund was a central coordinator and leader in the completion of the power grid upgrade that supported over 17,000 deployed personnel.

CM2 Randall Hatmaker

CM2 Hatmaker was deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was instrumental in the installation of over 1, 100 meters of cable, 11-2 megawatt transformers and 480 high voltage electrical connections for the completion of a power distribution grid to support over 8,000 troops.

EO Rodney Laraway

Rodney Laraway was deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait and served as the Horizontal Construction Shop Leading Petty Officer, Yard Boss and Seabee Combat Warfare Coordinator.

CE1 Richard Martinez

CEI Martinez was deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has received an Army Achievement Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and a Sea Service Medal.

CM2 Carlos Ramirez

CM2 Ramirez says this recognition is not just about him but is also about friends and family that stand up to the call of duty to give us a free America and to all of you that believe.

ENS Tom Stephen

In the five years since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Ensign Stephens has served 23 months on active duty in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Of those 23 months, 20 were spent doing work at two different bases domestically and 3 months doing supply and logistics at Naval Surface Activity Bahrain in the Middle East. After 16 years of enlisted Navy Reserve services, Stephens was recently sworn in as an Ensign.

HM2 Michelle Teschner

Deployed to Kuwait with expeditionary medical facility Dallas from January through September 2005 HM2 Teschner provided medical support to all Marines, Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen deploying to Iraq.

MA1 Ivan Exum

MA1 Exum was mobilized in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from July 11, 2005 to April 28, 2006, with Naval Customs Battalion "PaPa" Naval Logistics Support Group Williamsburg, VA. While deployed MA1 Exum served as Loading Petty Officer of a Forward Deployed Armory in northern Kuwait, and served as a custom border clearance agent for Naval Custom Battalion "PaPa".

CE1 Robert Davis Jr.

Recalled to active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Robert Davis was deployed to Kuwait to support the mission of the Army Corp of Engineers. As the shop supervisor of the power production show, his crew ensured safe and reliable electrical service through the operations and maintenance of 161 diesel generators capable of 30 mega watts of electrical power.

UT2 Thomas Janik

UT2 Janik was deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait with Amphibious Construction Battalion 2. Janik's mission was to salvage, transport and maintain Army equipment. He also provided support attached to a task force which traveled night and day along the Iraqi border.

OS1 Nicholas Misch

OS1 Nicholas Misch was deployed to Kuwait in support of Navy Customs Mission. He was the Tactical Operations Control Leading Petty Officer overseeing the customs compounds operations.
