Hats Off to Our Heroes

Following the tragedy of September 11, 2001, the Cleveland Browns created the Hats Off to Our Heroes program to recognize and salute the accomplishments and services of those in the local community.

The Cleveland Browns Hats Off to Our Heroes program was awarded the ‘2003 Best Single Program’ from the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame, who referred to the program as  ‘intriguing and creative.’

Hats Off to Our HeroesHats Off to Our Heroes is an annual program recognizing and honoring everyday local heroes.  It was created in order to pay tribute to 9/11, and originally centered on programming in September. Each year, heroes are honored based on parameters determined by the team as well as a reflection on the current affairs.  The program is designed to be a comprehensive recognition program that is embraced by our fans, and creates an atmosphere of pride.

In addition, the Hats Off to Our Heroes program has become an umbrella to encompass the Browns support of military representatives and local service organizations. The benchmark of the program includes honoring different men and women who serve the community year after year.

The Hats Off to Our Heroes program has evolved for the 2006 season, and the Browns are proud to announce the ongoing effort to give recognition to those who deserve it. Rather than focusing on the Browns home opener to highlight standout citizens, the Cleveland Browns have dedicated each regular season home game to recognize and salute each branch of the United States Armed Forces, in addition to volunteers of Katrina Relief Efforts and local police and fire representatives.

The Cleveland Browns thank each of the men and women who serve our country, locally and abroad.
