5 holiday wishes for Cleveland Browns

Browns Senior Editor Vic Carucci offers his five holiday wishes for the team.

Here are my five holiday wishes for the Cleveland Browns … and I want to wish everyone a very happy and safe holiday season, and all the best in the New Year!

>>Quarterback help. Whether it comes from the draft, free agency, trade, or all three, get it! And get it right. This is obviously the most critical piece to the puzzle that provides any hope for improvement over the train wreck that has been this season.

>>Receiver help. This is the second-most important piece to that puzzle of hope. Right now, the Browns have one legitimate difference-maker: Josh Gordon. They need many more. The draft seems to offer the chance to provide one and possibly two strong pass-catching targets. Free-agency is another place the Browns have to look to, again, get this position right!

>>Offensive line help. The issues with the Browns’ line start with the interior. If Alex Mack ends up leaving in free agency, they will have a huge hole to fill at center. And regardless of what happens with Mack, they’ll have to address both guard spots, which have been a big part of the problem in the Browns’ inability to have anything resembling an effective running game. Right tackle Mitchell Schwartz, a question mark entering the season, seemed to take some big steps toward redemption.

>>Pass-rush help. Yes, the Browns did devote the past offseason to upgrading their front seven. Yes, their pass rush was supposed to have been one of their strengths.

>>Secondary help. The Browns still need at least one cornerback, because their depth at the position remains a serious problem. They could also need to replace T.J. Ward if the standout strong safety ends up departing in free agency.
