You’ve got questions and comments that you submit to the Browns’ official Facebook and Twitter pages, and Daily@ClevelandBrowns.com. Here’s what I have to say about what you have to say:
Mike says: “The whole team should take losing as personally as
I say: I believe that that, in fact, is the case, Mike.
Joe might have been the one who expressed his frustration so publicly, with the comments he made while choking back tears after Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. But he is not alone.
There is tremendous pride among the vast majority of players, as well as coaches and other hard-working people in this organization. You might not get to hear from all of them, but I assure you they despise losing every bit as much as Haden does.
The Browns have Haden and some other highly talented players, such as
I say: The problem is with Tanney’s lack of experience, Tony.
Based on what I know about the situation, the coaches don’t seem the least bit comfortable with having someone who has not played an NFL game make his first career start against Bill Belichick’s defense Sunday. For that matter, they would prefer that he wouldn’t have to play at all through the remaining four games of the season.
It isn’t that Hanie has a vast amount of experience or anything of the sort. He does have five seasons in the NFL and has made four career starts, and based on that, the coaches would be far more comfortable with having him take over as the starter if neither
Honestly, I don’t know that Hanie genuinely would give the Browns that much more of a chance to win. And, honestly, I am as curious as anyone to see what Tanney, famous for that YouTube trick-shot passing video he made, could do in an actual game.
But I do understand the coaches’ perspective on this. They can’t, with a clear conscience, allow Tanney to enter a situation for which he would figure to be woefully underprepared.
