Lake Catholic head coach Mike Bell was named the 2011 Cleveland Browns High School Coach of the Year during a special halftime ceremony of the Browns vs. Steelers game on Jan. 1.
In conjunction with the Browns High School Game of the Week program, Bell was one of 10 finalists up for the award, which is annually given to the coach who exemplifies hard work and dedication to young people and creates successful football teams and players both on and off the field.
As part of the honor, Bell received $2,000 for Lake Catholic’s football program, who finished the 2011 regular season with a 9-1 record and advanced to the OHSAA playoffs for the 8th time in Bell’s 10-year career as head coach.
