Benjamin up for Pepsi MAX Rookie Award

Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin has been nominated for the Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Week Award, the league announced Tuesday morning.

Wide receiver TRAVIS BENJAMIN of the Cleveland Browns, quarterback NICK FOLES of the Philadelphia Eagles, running back ALFRED MORRIS of the Washington Redskins, safety HARRISON SMITH of the Minnesota Vikings and running back DAVID WILSON of the New York Giants are the finalists for PEPSI MAX NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK honors for games played on December 6-10, the NFL announced today.

Fans can vote for one of these five players on NFL.com/rookies beginning Tuesday at 9 A.M. ET and ending on Friday at 3 P.M. ET to determine the PEPSI MAX NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK. The PEPSI MAX NFL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access on NFL Network and on NFL.com.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. The Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year will be announced at the second annual “NFL Honors” awards show in New Orleans on Saturday, February 2, the night before Super Bowl XLVII.

A closer look at the finalists:

Cleveland Browns WR Travis Benjamin scored on a 93-yard punt return in the second quarter as the Browns beat the Kansas Chiefs 30-7.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles completed 32 of 51 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 23-21 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Washington Redskins RB Alfred Morris rushed for 122 yards on 23 carries and scored one touchdown in the Redskins’ 31-28 overtime win against the Baltimore Ravens.

Minnesota Vikings S Harrison Smith recorded six total tackles and one interception which he returned 56 yards for a touchdown in the Vikings’ 21-14 win over the Chicago Bears.

New York Giants RB David Wilson gained 100 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns on the ground. He also accounted for 227 kick-return yards, including a 97-yard touchdown return as the Giants beat the New Orleans Saints 52-27.

This is Pepsi’s eleventh year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL and the eleventh year that Pepsi will present the NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL Rookie of the Year awards.
