STRONGSVILLE -- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Davone Bess spent the afternoon meeting with and drew motivation from fans of the team.

STRONGSVILLE -- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Davone Bess signed autographs for and posed for pictures with fans during a tailgate party at PNC Bank’s Strongsville branch Tuesday.

While interacting with fans, Bess drew motivation, which he plans to use throughout the week of preparation for this Sunday’s game at Minnesota.

“We not only do it for ourselves; we do it for the fans,” Bess said. “They’re just as important as us. They’re motivating us every day. We’ve got to work. We know we’re not where we want to be, but we’ve got some work ahead of us, and we’ve just got to keep grinding.”

In addition to the fans’ support, Bess found resolve from coach Rob Chudzinski’s message on Monday:

“This is a determined team,” Chudzinski said. “We’ll get it right, and we’ll bounce back. We’ll make the corrections, move on and get ready for Minnesota. I believe in this team. I believe that we will not accept losing, and we will get better.”

To Bess, those words express the mentality of the team.

“It gives us motivation in all aspects,” Bess said. “We don’t want to create a losing environment, and that’s something we’ve talked about since day one. We’ve just got to stay together, keep working and change this losing mentality and try to get this train on the right track.”

Bess spent nearly two hours meeting with the fans, who enjoyed food from Strongsville restaurants, had an opportunity to see the Browns’ tour bus, try their hand at the inflatable football toss station and sign up to join Browns Backers Worldwide or the Junior Backers kids club.

“Just to be able to come out and share this day, this beautiful day, with our fans is amazing,” Bess said. “It’s a good opportunity to chill, hang out with the kids. We know they look up to us in all kinds of ways. The more and more we can interact with the community, sign autographs, the more we can just have a good time.”
