Browns Daily Wrap: Weeden Concerns

Posted Oct 21, 2013

On Monday’s “Cleveland Browns Daily, Driven by Liberty Ford,” co-hosts Vic Carucci and Nathan Zegura reviewed Sunday’s 31-13 loss at Green Bay with coach Rob Chudzinski, Doug Dieken from the PNC Bank Cleveland Browns Radio Network, Tom Withers from the Associated Press, and Je’Rod Cherry.

Here are some highlights:

Nathan Zegura: “(Brandon) Weeden isn’t the only problem, but he is the glaring problem. His teammates don’t believe in him and you can see it in their body language.”

Vic Carucci: “(Weeden’s) playing horribly. He can’t continue to do this and maintain the respect and confidence of his teammates. When you reach a point of crisis, you act upon it. Is Jason Campbell the answer? I don’t think anyone knows.”

Doug Dieken: “Weeden was the focal point, but overall it wasn’t their best game for the team. It started with having trouble tackling (Jermichael) Finley on his first touchdown.”

Tom Withers: “I keep expecting them to sign another quarterback, not just because of Weeden’s problems, but in case someone gets hurt. … Was the defense from the 3-2 record fool’s gold?”

Rob Chudzinski: “The main problem is that we don’t execute and play well enough to win. It’s just really that simple. …The biggest lesson I have learned about this team so far is that they respond when things are coached and challenged to them. …We’re trying to create a mentality here that we are going to fight until the very end, no matter what the scoreboard says.”

Je’rod Cherry: “Weeden cannot continue to be consistently inconsistent. … (Josh) Gordon should’ve fought harder to catch the ball. I saw a guy that played, but not a guy who was dominant when he had the opportunity to be dominant.”
