Football is a team game and so is life. Just as it takes an entire team to succeed on the field, it takes many people to improve a community.
Helping those who are less fortunate is a responsibility the Cleveland Browns, United States Marine Corps and Majestic Steel USA take to heart. The Browns have a long tradition of supporting the Marines’ Toys for Tots campaign through a game day collecting, uniting the team and fans for a good cause. To strengthen the local collection, Majestic Steel USA has become a valuable teammate in the initiative for the past two years.
Earlier this week, the Browns joined Majestic Steel USA and the Marines for a check presentation in Chagrin Falls. Majestic Steel donated $2,500 to the United States Marine Corps for the annual Touchdown for Tots campaign. Majestic Steel USA raised the funds through November to help support the overall cause.
“Majestic Steel USA selects a charitable cause to support each month, with all associate contributions matched by the company and donated to the selected organization,” said Tom Innis, director of corporate relations. “To align with the timing of our volunteer collection of toys and monetary donations at Browns Stadium, we selected November to further support Touchdown for Tots with our monthly charity initiative.”
Majestic Steel USA decided on the additional support through the internal fundraiser after serving as a sponsor for the Browns’ annual Toy Drive for the December 4th home game against the Baltimore Ravens.
“The desire to go above and beyond is a hallmark of Majestic culture,” Innis said. “We feel fortunate to work at a successful company and are committed to investing in the community in which we live. We also feel a great indebtedness to the United States Marine Corps and the service they provide our nation. The Touchdown for Tots campaign is a great way to demonstrate both our commitment to community and appreciation for our armed forces and we greatly appreciate the Browns’ help in facilitating the connection between Majestic Steel USA and the United States Marine Corps.”
The 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, 4th Marine Division is headquartered in nearby Brook Park, Ohio and they appreciated the additional support from Majestic Steel USA.
“I feel that the partnership between the Marine Toys for Tots Program, the Cleveland Browns, and Majestic Steel USA during the Touchdown for Tots campaign has made a tremendous impact on the amount of collections we have received in the past two years,” said Sgt. Christopher Bostick of the 3/25 Marines. “The Cleveland Browns have continued to show their unwavering support of the Marine Corps and the Toys for Tots Foundation by inviting us back every year to collect for our campaign. It is my hope that this partnership continues for many years to come.”
