Browns awarded Ronnie Cameron

The Browns were awarded defensive lineman Ronnie Cameron from waivers, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Cleveland Browns were awarded defensive lineman Ronnie Cameron off waivers from Chicago, the team announced. In addition, the club waived/injured fullback Eddie Williams.

Originally signed by Chicago as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2012, Cameron appeared in the Bears’ preseason opener on August 9, but did not record any statistics. He played collegiately at Old Dominion University (2010-11) and Hofstra University (2008-09). As a senior, he started all 13 games and recorded 73 tackles and 6.5 sacks as he helped the Monarchs to a 10-3 record. He opened all 11 contests as a junior and totaled 72 tackles and 5.5 sacks. Cameron appeared in 22 games while at Hofstra. Born on August 15, 1989, the 6-2, 305-pound Cameron is a native of Westbury, N.Y., and attended Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, N.Y.

Cameron will wear No. 65.
