Browns contribute to sports auction

Posted Nov 16, 2011

The Browns have teamed up with WTAM to help benefit the United Way of Greater Cleveland.

The Browns have once again teamed up with the other Cleveland sports teams for the annual WTAM Sports Auction to benefit the United Way of Greater Cleveland.

Through WTAM’s online auction, fans can bid on autographed memorabilia, as well as unique game experiences now through Nov. 18th at 3pm ET.

“Each year, the Cleveland Browns join the other sports teams to support the United Way of Greater Cleveland through the sports auction,” said Jenner Tekancic, manager of community outreach for the Browns. “We have exclusive experience packages that we are offering to help raise additional funds.”

Fans have an opportunity to bid on  16 luxury suite tickets for the January 1st game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as six tickets and the opportunity to be part of the pregame gauntlet for the Steelers game.

“These packages are crafted for the Cleveland sports fan that wants to get in the game and be there on site,” Tekancic said. “Most of the things you watch on TV, you can actually experience live and first-hand. That’s what we’re hoping to do with these packages. The auction is just in time for the holidays, so if you’re stuck with what to get that special person, this would be a great way to get your bids in and donate to a great cause.”

In addition to the experience packages, the Browns have donated the following autographed items, a football from a Pro Football Hall of Famer, Colt McCoy and Joshua Cribbs jerseys, a Greg Little photo with a Browns apparel package and Joe Haden and Joe Thomas footballs. President Mike Holmgren signed a mini helmet and defensive lineman Phil Taylor autographed a helmet for the auction.

“The Browns’ partnership extends throughout the entire year,” Tekancic said. “We’re always looking for ways to create awareness for the United Way of Greater Cleveland and the services they provide. This opportunity to join with the other sports teams for the sports auction provides us with one more way to reach out and raise funds for the United Way of Greater Cleveland.”
