Browns hold successful food drive

Posted Dec 5, 2012

This year, the Cleveland Browns’ annual food drive collected more than 31,800 meals for the Cleveland Foodbank.

Before their Nov. 25 victory against Pittsburgh, the Browns hosted their annual food drive benefiting the Cleveland Foodbank. Volunteers were located outside the stadium encouraging fans to donate non-perishable food items and monetary donations. For every dollar donated, the Cleveland Foodbank can provide four nutritious meals to families in need.

For more than 30 years, the Cleveland Foodbank has been able to provide hunger relief to those in Northeast Ohio with the mission to ensure that every person in the greater Cleveland area has access to nutritious meals each day.

Beyond this annual gate collection, the Browns support the Cleveland Foodbank throughout the year. At the start of the season, the Browns hosted their annual Taste of the Browns event which raised $167,000 for the Cleveland Foodbank. The Browns front-office personnel and players also lent a hand to the Cleveland Foodbank the week before Thanksgiving, packing bags for the Cleveland Foodbank’s Backpack for Kids program, preparing meals in the community kitchen and distributing turkeys to local agencies. The Browns’ organization and players made generous financial contributions which helped to purchase turkeys for 1,000 local families.

The Cleveland Browns encourage you to get involved with the Cleveland Foodbank and their mission to help those in need in Northeast Ohio. For more information about how the Cleveland Foodbank provides the vital link between food and hunger and how to help out today please visit,
