Browns host Ladies Chalk Talk

Posted Nov 20, 2012

The Cleveland Browns held their annual Ladies Chalk Talk event at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Monday.

The Cleveland Browns welcomed 200 women to BrownsTown at Cleveland Browns Stadium for their annual Chalk Talk event on Monday evening.

The team had three stations at the event, including a tour of the home team locker room and an inside look at what is done in the equipment room on a daily basis. Then, the participants went over Xs and Os details with former Browns defensive player, John Thierry. Lastly, the ladies spoke with David Jenkins, the team’s vice president of finance and administration, about the business side of football.

“This is probably the fourth year we’ve done this event and each year, it seems to grow,” said Beth Brand, manager of special events for the Browns. “I think it’s really catching on and the ladies love to come out and have just a ladies night. It’s a really fun opportunity for them to support their favorite teams with their friends.”

“I think it’s really great. The ladies really appreciate seeing our current players out here signing autographs and getting to know them. To learn Xs and Os from one of our alumni, who better to learn from?”

Tracey Carroll from the Lanigan and Malone Show on WMJI AM/105.7 served as the host of the event and current Browns players, tight end Jordan Cameron and defensive end Jabaal Sheard, were on hand to sign autographs, pose for photos and talk about the game.

Both Sheard and Cameron enjoyed the opportunity to interact with fans and teach the Chalk Talk participants about football.

“I’m out here signing autographs, taking pictures and they’re learning the game of football,” Cameron said. “It’s pretty cool. They’re obviously not playing football, so it’s a lot of fun to teach them and it’s a cool thing so they understand what we’re doing on a daily basis. It’s kind of a fun thing.”

Sheard added, “It’s nice to get out here and see a few faces and see women learning about the sport of football. The sport’s growing more and women are learning about it. They’re very interested. For them to get to learn outside of watching the game, it’s good. The one lady was super excited. She had me laughing, smiling from ear-to-ear.”

Ladies Chalk Talk is in association with Mattress Warehouse.
