Browns make roster moves

The Browns made a series of roster moves, the team announced Tuesday evening.

The Cleveland Browns today signed defensive back Prince Miller and linebacker Adrian Moten. The team also elevated defensive lineman Hall Davis from the practice squad to the active roster. In addition, the club placed linebacker James-Michael Johnson and defensive back T.J. Ward on injured reserve with knee injuries, neither of which will require surgery.

Johnson started eight of the 10 games in which he saw action. He posted 32 tackles on defense and three stops on special teams.

Ward started all 14 games this season and totaled 68 tackles, three forced fumbles, one sack and one interception.

Originally signed by Baltimore as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2010, Miller has appeared in four career games and has totaled three tackles. He has spent time on the active rosters of Baltimore (four weeks in 2010), Detroit (four weeks in 2010) and Indianapolis (one week in 2011) and time on the practice squads of Baltimore (nine weeks in 2010), New England (one week in 2010), Buffalo (six weeks in 2011) and most recently Jacksonville (three weeks in 2012). He appeared in 52 career games at Georgia (2006-09) and registered 126 tackles, one interception, one sack, one forced fumble and returned a punt 92 yards for a touchdown. Born January 14, 1988, the 5-9, 210-pounder is a native of Duncan, S.C., and attended James F. Byrnes High School. He will wear No. 31.

Originally signed by Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on July 29, 2011, Moten has appeared in 13 career games and has three tackles on defense and one special teams fumble recovery. In 2011, he appeared in 10 regular season games with the Colts and two with the Seattle Seahawks. This season, he spent training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles and was waived during final roster cuts. He was re-signed by the Eagles on October 2 and appeared in one game, before being waived on October 9. Moten was a four-year starter at Maryland (2007-10), where he racked up 219 career tackles, 15.5 sacks, six interceptions, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Born April 22, 1988, the 6-2, 230-pounder is a native of Suitland, Md., and attended Gwynn Park High School. He will wear No. 54.

Originally drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fifth round (149th overall) of the 2010 draft, Davis has appeared in one regular season contest. He spent 10 weeks on the Titans’ practice squad in 2010, before being signed to the active roster where he appeared in one game. He spent training camp with Raiders this season before being waived on final roster cuts on August 31. He has spent the last seven weeks on the Browns’ practice squad. He attended Louisiana-Lafayette (2006-09), where he totaled three sacks and one interception in 12 games as a senior. Born March 2, 1987, the 6-4, 270-pound Davis is a native of Baton Rouge, La., where he attended University High School. He will wear No. 91.
