Week in review
On Wednesday, “Cleveland Browns Daily, Driven by Liberty Ford” celebrated its one-year anniversary.
Just as when the show was launched, on the day the NFL lockout ended, the timing couldn’t have been better.
For one thing, host Vic Carucci returned this week after a well-deserved, two-week vacation. Special thanks to Jim Donovan, the voice of the Browns, and Michael Reghi for filling in during that time.
Wednesday also was the day of the Browns’ rookie training camp, and the show focused heavily on ![]()
Vic and Scott Petrak, Browns beat writer for the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram and the Medina Gazette, provided a thorough analysis of Gordon’s performance and concluded that he offers a great deal of potential to make a strong impact.
In addition to regulars Bernie Kosar and Hanford Dixon, Vic was joined by Browns coach Pat Shurmur; Clark Judge, NFL writer for CBSSports.com, and SiriusXM NFL Radio co-host and former Browns offensive lineman (very briefly) Ross Tucker.
Shurmur gave his perspective on Gordon and also talked about the many questions he fielded from reporters on Wednesday about his timetable for officially naming a starting quarterback. As the coach said, “sooner is better.”
Judge talked about the challenges facing Coach Shurmur in his second season as Browns coach, while Tucker addressed the low expectations that national prognosticators have for the team’s fortunes this season.
As usual, Vic addressed numerous questions from the Browns’ Facebook and Twitter pages. Listeners can’t seem to get enough information about Gordon and, of course, the Browns’ quarterback situation.
Another highlight of the week was the launch of the official “Browns Daily” Twitter page. The page allows us to keep listeners up to date on our guest list, show highlights and topics, links to blogs by Vic and Bernie, and for listeners to submit questions and comments. To date, we have more than 1,000 followers.
