Posted Dec 21, 2010

The Browns have placed linebacker Scott Fujita and defensive back Eric Wright on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday evening.

The Cleveland Browns today placed linebacker Scott Fujita and cornerback Eric Wright on injured reserve, the team announced.  The club signed the following two players to its 53-man roster: nose tackle Travis Ivey from the practice squad and linebacker Steve Octavien as a free agent.  In addition, fullback Tyler Clutts was signed to the practice squad.

Ivey went to camp with Miami as an undrafted free agent this year before being awarded off waivers to the Browns on August 25.  He was released by Cleveland on September 4 and then signed to the team’s practice squad a day later.  The 6-4, 325-pounder was a four-year letterman at the University of Maryland (2006-09) where he appeared in 32 games, including 16 starts.  He opened all 12 contests as a senior and recorded 54 tackles, six stops for loss, two sacks and three fumble recoveries.  Born December 22, 1986, he attended Riverdale Baptist High School in Upper Marlboro, Md.  He will wear uniform No. 94.

Octavien originally was in training camp with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent in 2008.  He had a brief stint on Washington’s practice squad that year before being signed to Dallas’ 53-man roster.  He played in two games in a reserve role with the Cowboys in his rookie season and was credited with two tackles and a forced fumble on special teams.  In 2009, he saw action in 14 games as a reserve and registered two tackles on defense and 12 stops on special teams.  He was released by Dallas on September 4, 2010. The 6-0, 255-pound Octavien played in 22 games with 10 starts in his three years at the University of Nebraska (2005-07), after beginning his collegiate career at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Ill.  He appeared in 12 games with eight starts as a senior for the Cornhuskers and collected 92 tackles, two sacks and 15 stops for loss.  Born November 25, 1984, he attended Lely High School in Naples, Fla.  He will wear uniform No. 95.

Clutts was with the Sacramento Mountain Lions for the 2010 UFL season after playing with the Utah Blaze of the Arena League earlier this year.  He spent the 2008-09 seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian League.  The 6-2, 260-pounder was a four-year letterman as a defensive end at Fresno State (2004-07) where he played in 50 games.  He totaled 172 tackles, 34.5 stops for loss and 23.5 sacks during that time.  Born November 9, 1984, Clutts attended Clovis (Calif.) High School.
