Hillis on to Madden semis

Posted Apr 11, 2011

Browns running back Peyton Hillis defeated Kansas City’s Jamaal Charles and is now in the semifinals in the tournament to be on the cover of Madden NFL 12, the latest edition of the popular video game series.

Browns running back Peyton Hillis defeated Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles by carrying 60 percent of the vote in their third round match-up in the Madden NFL 12 cover voting challenge.

Onto the Final Four of the tournament, Hillis takes on Green Bay Packers quarterback and Super Bowl XLV Most Valuable Player, Aaron Rodgers. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson are on the other side of the bracket.

After becoming the first player in team history to rush for 1,000 yards, catch 50 passes and score ten touchdowns in the same season, Hillis has defeated Charles, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice in his tournament run.

Hillis would be the first Cleveland sports athlete to grace the cover of a video game. Rick Nash, right winger and captain of the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets, is the only Ohio professional sports athlete to be featured on a video game’s cover in the last decade.
