Mingo, Lauvao expected to start

Posted Oct 3, 2013

Barkevious Mingo and Shawn Lauvao are expected to start tonight for the Cleveland Browns against the Buffalo Bills.

Outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo will make his second straight start for the Cleveland Browns in place of the injured Jabaal Sheard, and after missing the first four weeks of the regular season with an ankle injury, Shawn Lauvao is expected to start at right guard against the Buffalo Bills in tonight’s Thursday Night Football game at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Mingo has registered 10 total tackles, including eight solo stops, and three sacks in his first three games. He is the first Browns player ever to register a sack in each of his first three games, and the first NFL player to do so since Tommie Kelly in 2004.

The Browns have deactivated quarterback Jason Campbell, running back Fozzy Whittaker, linebacker Quentin Groves, offensive linemen Patrick Lewis and Martin Wallace, defensive lineman Billy Winn and Sheard.

Brandon Weeden will be the team’s back-up quarterback to Brian Hoyer.

The Bills have deactivated kicker Dustin Hopkins, cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Ron Brooks, free safety Jarius Byrd, guard Sam Young, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, and tight end Chris Gragg.

Jim Leonard is expected to start at strong safety. Aaron Williams will start at right cornerback and Da’Norris Searcy will go at free safety.

Running backs C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson are active and expected to play despite battling injuries this week.
