Browns Backers Worldwide and the Cleveland Browns are proud to announce the North Myrtle Beach Browns Backers (NMBBB) of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. as our February 2010 "Club of the Month."
The North Myrtle Beach Browns Backers are a small group of 35 active members with really big hearts.
Since becoming a chartered club in January 2008, NMBBB has adopted a beach access where they meet to clean the beach once a month during the winter and twice a month during the summer. They have created their own charity, "Dawgs 4 Dogs," to benefit the local humane society and have been able to raise over $350 for the shelter. This year the club also donated $250 to the Cleveland Browns Foundation through funds raised by halftime raffles of purchased and donated Browns and Buckeyes items and donations from local businesses.
During the season, the club meets every Sunday at Wild Wing Cafe, a locally owned and operated restaurant. They also meet at this location for any special events like the "Paws across the Water Duck Race," beach sweeps, fantasy football league's draft and more.
In 2008, they made a club trip to Jacksonville to watch the Browns beat the Jaguars. Unfortunately, they weren't able to make a trip this year, but next season they plan on going to one of the Florida games or make the trip to the "Big Easy."
During the off season, the NMBBB officially meets on the first Thursday of every month. They have also been known to go off calendar and get together for members' birthdays, Cavaliers, Indians and Buckeye games.
The club is proud to say that they have raised five times the amount of money in dues and raffles than in the previous year, bringing their charitable donations from barely $100 to over $500.
