Browns Player Quotes 9-6-10
(Cribbs, Delhomme, Harrison)
(On if he ever asks himself if he is still ‘hungry’ after getting a new contract)- “No, not at all, asking yourself that lets you know already. I have got young guys on my back. I’m still trying to still be the same person and consistent throughout my year, still show the same high level type of play and I’m just trying to do a good job of doing that.”
(On which of his roles he is most excited to showcase)- “Because there is so much that we are going to showcase, I’m just excited for the game. I’m excited for the world to see our new Cleveland Browns offense. I’m just ecstatic. Coach (Mangini) is trying to just calm everyone down basically because we are excited about this season and we are ready.”
(On how much work he put in the offseason to become a better player)- “A lot. I think a lot has to do with coaches believing in me and coaches having more confidence in me to say, ‘Hey, you are going to be the man, so strap up.’ That says a lot for me, it gives my confidence a boost so I can go out there and do what I’m capable of. I don’t have to worry about making mistakes, just go out there and play. That’s the biggest thing. I feel somewhat of a swag about myself and at the same time, staying humble to the point where I am getting on my responsibilities. If it’s thrown to me, I’m going to catch it. Playing without the football in my hands, knowing that I still have got to run good routes and just helping my team and knowing that I’m going to play my position and not try to play everybody else’s.”
(On if he thinks the team accomplished everything they needed to in the preseason)- “I think for the most part. We got a lot of football in, I’ll tell you that much. Now we are like everybody else, optimism is in the air. We are all undefeated and it’s opening day. It’s hard to explain. For the most part, everybody is healthy. People will be flying around, the adrenaline is going to be flowing no matter what. It’s opening day, it’s what it’s all about, especially for young guys. They played in preseason games, but that first game, it’s just great. It’s awesome.”
(On on what makes this season different from last year for him)- “I just think it’s like I keep saying over and over, it’s a fresh start for me, it’s new and it’s exciting. I enjoy the guys, I enjoy our locker room and I enjoy the way the guys work. This atmosphere doesn’t happen at all places. The way guys work, the way they want to work and get better, doesn’t happen at all places. That’s what makes it so enjoyable and they’re fun guys to be around, very intelligent guys. The coaches ask a lot of us and we are just trying to put plans together and win some football games.”
(On if the four game winning streak to end last season gets brought up often)- “It has got brought up. Again, that was last year. We are trying to establish ourselves as the 2010 Browns. It was something to build off of, I know that. The guys who came back from that, they had built off of it. We’ve added some new pieces and we are trying to make our own identity.”
(On if good character and togetherness translates into wins)- “I think it does because I think whenever times get tough, and they are going to get tough during this season. This is not going to be just an easy joy ride, that’s the NFL season. I think 100 percent, there is going to be gut check time, numerous times during the season. I’d rather have a guy who I know has prepared and he’s ready to go than someone who might be talented, but they’re just kind of getting by. To me, that’s what makes teams get over the hump, turn the corner so to speak.”
(On his opportunity at running back)- “I have a great opportunity. I’m playing with a great offensive line, the best fullback in the league and just getting a chance to go out there and run and have fun and be very productive and do whatever I need to do to help this team win.”
(On the versatility on offense)- “I think we became an all-around team now, both run and pass. Jake (Delhomme) and Seneca (Wallace), with their knowledge of the game and their experience. I think they really helped (Brian) Robiskie, (Mohamed) Massaquoi and (Chansi) Stuckey along. We have got some good tight ends too, so we are well-rounded offensively.”
(On what’s different about this team going into the opening game)- “We are very focused. This is a brand new team, different attitude, different mindset and everything. We plan on winning. Our mindset is to win every week and we are very concentrated, very focused and very determined team. We are going to put a lot into this week.”
(On his personal goals for the season)- “The ones I will share are that I am going to go out there and run hard. I am going to give this city everything I’ve got every time I am out there. I am going to try my hardest to help turn this program around and do whatever I can do to do it.”
