Wright named Browns Coach of the Year

Hudson head coach Ron Wright took home the 2013 Cleveland Browns High School Coach of the Year Award.

After finishing the regular season with a 9-1 record and leading Hudson to the second round of the Division I state playoffs, Hudson’s Ron Wright was named the 2013 Cleveland Browns High School Coach of the Year during the first quarter of Sunday’s Browns game against the Chicago Bears at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Wright was among 10 finalists up for the award, which is in conjunction with the Cleveland Browns High School Game of the Week program.  The High School Game of the Week program is presented by PNC Bank.

The other nine Coach of the Year finalists included Matt Rosati (Perry), Ben Malbasa (Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin), Jason Ward (Columbia), Larry Laird (Avon Lake), Steve Trivisonno (Mentor), Al Young (Black River), Rob Clarico (Keystone), Dave Stupka (Lutheran West) and Jeff McSweeney (Trinity).

Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, Kirtland football teams honored.

In addition to the Coach of the Year recognition, the Browns also honored the Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary football team for its Division III State Championship and Kirtland for its Division VI State Championship.
