Motley was known as a deadly pass blocker and a tremendous runner on the Browns' famed trap play. He also played linebacker early in his career. Motley is the all-time AAFC rushing champ. He was the NFL's top rusher in 1950. Motley was named All-AAFC three times and All-NFL in 1950. His career rushing statistics include 828 carries for 4,720 yards. His 5.7-yard career average is an AAFC record. Motley also caught 85 passes and scored 234 points in nine years. He played in the 1951 Pro Bowl. Motley holds a Browns' record with an 18.42-yard average on scrimmage yards in a game, coming off 221 yards on 12 touches against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 29, 1950. He was born on June 5, 1920 in Leesburg, Ga. He died on June 27, 1999 at the age of 79.
