Biography

Originally signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2009, Hoyer has appeared in 15 career contests with one start. He has completed 57 of 96 career passes for 616 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. In 2012, Hoyer appeared in the final two regular games with the Arizona Cardinals with one start and completed 30 of 53 passes for 330 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in those two contests. He also dressed but did not play in two contests with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012 prior to joining the Cardinals via waivers on December 10. From 2009-11, he served as the Patriots backup quarterback, where he saw action in 13 regular season contests.

A four-year letterman at Michigan State University (2005-08), Hoyer appeared in 39 games with 27 starts for the Spartans. He completed 500 of 896 career passes for 6,159 yards with 35 touchdowns. His 6,159 passing yards and 500 career completions both currently rank fourth in school history, while his 35 touchdown passes are seventh.

Born October 13, 1985, the 6-2, 215-pound Hoyer is a native of North Olmsted, Ohio who attended St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland.
