John Spytek
Director of College Scouting

Biography

John Spytek is in his second season with the Cleveland Browns as director of college scouting. Spytek came to the club after spending the previous five seasons on the personnel staff of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Browns' first draft under Spytek produced three starters by season's end (CB Joe Haden, S T.J. Ward, QB Colt McCoy), while two were consensus all-rookie selections (Haden, Ward).

After beginning his tenure with the Eagles as an intern in the pro personnel department in 2005, Spytek was hired full-time the following year, as a college scouting assistant. He was promoted to college/pro scout in 2007 and served the next three years in that role. During Spytek's five seasons in Philadelphia, the Eagles earned three trips to the playoffs and advanced to the NFC Championship game in 2008.

He also spent the 2004 season as an intern in the Detroit Lions' football operations department.

Spytek attended the University of Michigan, where he earned three letters as a linebacker (2000-02). There, he earned his undergraduate degree in general studies and his master's in sports management. A native of Pewaukee, Wis., Spytek resides in Northeast Ohio with his wife, Kristen.
