Since 2014, the Browns’ First and Ten movement has been encouraging fans to give back to their communities by volunteering at least 10 hours every year. In addition to fan involvement, Browns Give Back is an important initiative involving all Browns players, coaches and staff who each season #give10 by volunteering their time with various organizations throughout the world. Among the players who remain committed to the community and has taken the First and Ten pledge is Browns kicker Greg Joseph, who recently launched the Fresh Water for Flint initiative to help provide safe water and support individuals still suffering from the effects of the Flint water crisis.
As many Flint families still do not have reliable access to clean water, Joseph has launched a fundraising campaign and plans to personally deliver resources to individuals in need within the community. Browns fans can support Joseph’s Fresh Water for Flint campaign to help purchase water for impacted families by making donations through https://www.rallyme.com/rallies/16565/clevelandbrowns.
Joseph has also dedicated significant time giving back in Northeast Ohio since joining the Browns last season. In 2018, he dedicated over 20 hours to his community by supporting a wide array of organizations such as the USO of Northern Ohio, University Hospitals, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and the Browns Neighborhood Unity and Equality Summit. His latest efforts with Fresh Water for Flint are a part of his ongoing passion to promote social justice for those in under served communities.
As the Browns look ahead to the 2019 season, fans are also encouraged to become a part of the First and Ten movement and #give10 by volunteering at least 10 hours to better their communities. To join the campaign, visit https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/community/first-ten/take-pledge to take the Browns First and Ten pledge! Once you pledge and #give10 hours, if you share your story with us on social media, you could be featured in our weekly First and Ten Highlights story or even join the team on the field prior to a home game as an honorary Browns Give Back First and Ten Coin Toss Captain!
Throughout this season, fans are also invited to participate in the NFL Huddle for 100 initiative. This program strives to promote 100 million minutes of service throughout the NFL in 2019 by engaging fans in 100 minutes of volunteerism in their local communities. Fans can help reach this goal by sharing and posting the hashtag “#BrownsHuddleFor100” along with photos of their community contributions.
