Browns QB Baker Mayfield nabs his 6th Rookie of the Week award

Make it six for No. 6.

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was named Rookie of the Week on Friday for the sixth time this season. He beat out his teammate, running back Nick Chubb, along with Patriots running back Sony Michel, Bears linebacker Roquan Smith and Jets quarterback Sam Darnold.

Mayfield's previous Rookie of the Week awards came in Weeks 3, 7, 9, 12 and 14.

Mayfield, who was also named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week, threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 26-18 win over the Bengals. He's just two touchdown passes short of matching the NFL's rookie record of 26 in a season. Since Week 9, Mayfield has completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,878 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions -- good for a quarterback rating of 111.4.

The Browns' 10 Rookie of the Week awards have been split among three players. Along with Mayfield's six wins, Chubb (Weeks 4 and 10) and cornerback Denzel Ward (Weeks 1 and 5) each have two. The most Rookie of the Week award wins by a team in a single season is 11, an honor shared by the 2012 Washington Redskins and 2017 New Orleans Saints. The Browns have taken home the award in every week they've had a player nominated.
