By the Numbers: Browns keep Saints' high-powered offense in check until very end

NEW ORLEANS — Breaking down a 21-18 loss the Saints by the numbers…

275 — In a game in which the Browns' defense was regularly in control, Cleveland held New Orleans' typically high-powered offense to just 275 total yards, including 134 at halftime. Accounting for most of that was veteran quarterback Drew Brees, who finished with 243 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

246 — Browns starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor passed for 246 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 22-of-30 attempts after going 15-of-40 against the Steelers in the season opener.

8 — The Browns forced two more turnovers — a pair of forced fumbles in the first half — to give them eight takeaways so far this season. They had six last weekend.

2 — Second-year defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi led Cleveland with two sacks and had a third called back because of a penalty.

43 — Cleveland leaned on its run game to set the pace Sunday as Carlos Hyde carried the ball 16 times for 43 yards and a touchdown.

81 — Antonio Callaway led the Browns receivers with 81 yards on three catches, including a 47-yard touchdown grab with 1:16 to play. The rookie made his first regular-season start Sunday in place of Josh Gordon, whom the team will release Monday.

99 — The Browns held dynamic Saints running back Alvin Kamara to 99-yard all-purpose yards and no touchdowns. Kamara had a pair of touchdowns last week against the Buccaneers.

12 — When the going got tough, the Saints turned to star receiver Michael Thomas, who caught 12 passes for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

8 — Browns cornerback T.J. Carrie led the team with eight tackles and had a critical sack on third down late in the game.

4 — Second-year kicker Zane Gonzalez struggled, missing 2-of-4 field goals and both extra points, including one that would've given the Browns a 19-18 lead after Taylor's touchdown pass to Callaway.
