- Following a five-year playing career that included a year with the Browns (2000), Colman has gained coaching experience in the NFL, NFL Europe, college and high school.
- In 2019, developed rookie K Austin Seibert and rookie P Jamie Gillan. Both were named to the PFWA All-Rookie team. Seibert set a Browns rookie scoring record with 105 points and opened his career with 16 consecutive conversions, a streak that ranked fourth in NFL history. Gillan set the Browns single-season record for net punting (41.6 average) and finished tied for fifth in team history with 28 punts inside the 20-yard line. Gillan was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 2 and AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September.
- Saw action in five games for the Browns in 2000 and was originally selected in the sixth round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He appeared in 64 career games between the Giants, Tennessee Titans and Browns. He also spent training camp with the Oakland Raiders in 2000 and with the New York Jets in 2001. With Tennessee, Colman saw action in a game known for its game-winning play, "The Music City Miracle" which propelled the Titans to Super Bowl XXXIV. He registered 31 tackles and one forced fumble on defense and 59 special teams tackles in his career.
- Helped the Texans finish first in punting average (47.4) and seventh in punts inside the 20 (113) from 2014-17.
- As a player, was a linebacker at Nebraska and was a member of the famed "Blackshirt Defense" from 1991-95. He was part of five Big 8 Conference championships and back-to-back national titles from 1994-95.
- Received bachelor's degree in physical education from Nebraska in 2001.
- Colman and his wife, Colleen, have four daughters, Logan Marie, Sarah, Grace and Anna, and one son, Matthew.
