The Cleveland Browns are committed to the community. Through First and Ten, the Dawg Pound is encouraged to share what they are doing to give back. Get inspired and check out what these fans are doing to help their community:
How do you give back?
Name: Bruce Rurka
Hometown: Baltimore, MD
How they give back: Bruce volunteers for Combat Wounded Coalition, an organization that helps wounded soldiers adjust back into society. Bruce helps by donating money and also raising funds, which is especially rewarding for him as he is a veteran and he is helping his fellow soldiers through this avenue. He loves working with this group because it’s inspiring to see the success of those he helps.
Name: Marty Beymen
Hometown: Kent, OH
How they give back: Marty has been volunteering since 1999 and has a hand in a host of different organizations like the Steffanie Speelman Cancer Research Center, Freedom House, Children’s Hospital, Big Brother Big Sister, and Relay for Life. He donates his money and time in order to fundraise and be able to donate about $6,000 every year to these causes and others including the Cleveland Browns Foundation.
Name: Jean Meland
Hometown: Roanoke, VA
How they give back: Jean collects money in her ‘swear pig’ and donates her funds at the end of the year to a local charity. She also has volunteered with the Roanoke Valley SPCA for the past five years, and loves it because she gets to help animals, while staying true to the Dawg Pound theme. She loves helping the animals find their forever homes and knows that she is making a difference for each animal she loves and supports.
Name: Darrius Jones
Hometown: Dayton, OH
How they give back: Darrius volunteers at House of Bread, a food pantry where he has been volunteering for five years. He loves helping others and learned that he should not take anything for granted. He loves that he gets to make an impact on another person’s life and really enjoys getting to interact and form relationships with the people.
Name: Scott Stahl
Hometown: Union City, OH
How they give back: Scott supports multiple different organizations and every year, his Browns Backers Club decides which organization it would like to support that season. They like switching it up when it comes to the organizations, as it allows them to be able to help as many people in all different circumstances. He believes by doing this, he can also be more involved and more aware of what is going on in his community.

The Browns are dedicated to #give10 through the team’s First and Ten initiative. Launched in June 2014, the Cleveland Browns First and Ten campaign is the team’s community program, established to inspire fans to volunteer in and help their communities throughout the world by volunteering for 10 hours each year. Since its inception, Browns fans have committed to volunteering more than 1.5 million hours to impact their communities by pledging to #give10. Through First and Ten, the Browns are the only NFL club to promote a long-term volunteering program that unifies the team and its entire fan base, with the goal of impacting every individual’s city across the globe, as well as the franchise’s local community. All Browns fans are encouraged to join the volunteering effort by signing the First and Ten pledge on the team’s website and by sharing their stories with #give10
