Browns makes roster moves

BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns on Wednesday claimed OL Abasi Salimu off waivers from St. Louis. General Manager Ray Farmer made the announcement. In addition, the team waived DB Royce Adams, LB Brandon Magee and WR Conner Vernon. The club also designated LB Tank Carder, OL Chris Faulk, DL Jacobbi McDaniel, OL Jeremiah Warren, RB Terrance West and DL Billy Winn as active/non-football injury.

Salimu, whose full name is pronounced ah-BAH-see suh-LEE-moo, is a 6-5, 310-pound rookie out of Nicholls State. He was originally signed by the Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 12.

After transferring from San Jose State, Salimu started 22 of his 23 games at Nicholls State as an offensive tackle. He is a native of Los Angeles, Calif. and attended Crenshaw High School.
