Browns waive QB Johnny Manziel

The Cleveland Browns on Friday waived quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Manziel, whom the Browns selected with the 22nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, appeared in 14 games with eight starts over two seasons. The Texas A&M product completed 147 of 258 passes for 1,675 yards with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He added 259 rushing yards and one score. Last season, Manziel started six games, appearing in nine total, and threw for 1,500 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions, while adding 230 rushing yards.

With Manziel's departure, the Browns have three quarterbacks on their roster heading into offseason workouts, which kick off next month. The group includes veteran Josh McCown, Austin Davis and Connor Shaw.
