High School Game of the Week

Presented by

Chagrin Falls defeats Beachwood 14-0

In this week's Cleveland Browns High School Game of the Week presented by Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), the Chagrin Falls Tigers took on the Beachwood Bisons. The seniors of Chagrin Falls said farewell as they played their last home game against Beachwood. The Tigers had a lot to play for tonight and they knew their work would be cut out for them as they took on the Bisons, but the Tigers would hold on and win a defensive battle 14-0, giving the Tigers their fourth straight win.

Beachwood would start the game with the opening kickoff. As they would all night, they relied heavily on their run game. The sophomore running back turned quarterback, Kendyn Wiggins was aggressive running the ball, but the defense of Chagrin Falls would stop them on their first drive.

The Tigers would look to score first as their following possession would be seven minute, 48-yard drive, only to be stopped at the one-yard line on fourth down. This huge stop would bring the second quarter with a score of 0-0.

Beachwood tried to take the momentum of their big stop to the offensive side of the ball, but would fumble on their own 15-yard line. The Tigers took advantage of the turnover as Mick Lawrence made a quick cut to the outside and would run the ball in the for the first score of the game, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead.

Beachwood made some mistakes, which gave Chagrin Falls good field position on majority of their drives. After a botched punt return by the Bisons, the Tigers took over with great field position on their opponent's 20-yard line. The Bisons found themselves with their backs against the wall again. The stubborn defense of the Bisons would continue as they made another goal line stand against the Tigers to get the ball back.

At the start of the second half, Mick Lawrence would find the end zone for the second time and give the Tigers a 14-0 lead. This would be the final score of the contest.

Mick Lawrence was this week's High School Game of the Week MVP with 23 carries for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns.

This win would also give Chagrin Falls head coach Mark Iammarino his 172nd win of his career. This is a new school record for the Chagrin Falls Tigers.

No game is complete without an outstanding volunteer. This week we would like to recognize Mark Gebler. Over the years, Mark as volunteered his time with Tigers Football by keeping stats for the team at home game.
