Biography
- George Warhop re-joined the Browns as offensive line coach in 2026. He is in his 30th year coaching in the NFL and in his second stint as Browns offensive line coach after previously serving in the role from 2009-13.
- Has worked with some of the top offensive linemen in NFL history including T Joe Thomas, T Orlando Pace, G Larry Allen, T Lomas Brown, G Logan Mankins, C Alex Mack, T Flozell Adams, T Joe Staley and T Laremy Tunsil.
- Overlapped with head coach Todd Monken in Tampa Bay (2016-18) and Baltimore (2024-25).
- During his first five seasons (2009-13) as Browns offensive coach, he helped Pro Football Hall of Fame T Joe Thomas to Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections in all five seasons. He developed C Alex Mack, who was a first-round pick in 2009 and went on to be named to two Pro Bowls and one All-Pro selection under Warhop. The 2010 season marked the first time that at least two Browns offensive linemen were chosen to the Pro Bowl since 1980. Thomas and Mack were both named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
- Served as the Ravens offensive line coach from 2024-25. During that time, he helped C Tyler Linderbaum to two Pro Bowl selections and T Ronnie Stanley to one. In 2024, the Ravens finished with the No. 1 offense in the NFL for the first time in team history as the Ravens became the first team in NFL history with 4,000 yards through the air (4,035) and 3,000 yards on the ground (3,189) in a single season. The unit set a franchise record with 7,224 total yards of offense, the third most in NFL single-season history.
- Spent five seasons with Tampa Bay (2014-18), three with Jacksonville (2019-21) and one with Houston (2022). Helped T Laremy Tunsil to a Pro Bowl selection in 2022 with the Texans and G Logan Mankins to the Pro Bowl in 2015 with the Buccaneers.
- Spent four seasons (2005-08) with the 49ers, where he shaped an offensive line which paved the way for RB Frank Gore to become the first player in franchise history with three consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons (2006-08). This included a franchise-record 1,695 yards in 2006, a figure which led the NFC that year.
- Spent two seasons with the Cowboys (2003-04) and helped T Flozell Adams to Pro Bowl selections each season.
- Coached Pro Football Hall of Fame G Larry Allen at both the 49ers and the Cowboys. Helped Allen to two Pro Bowl selections with each team and to be named to the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team.
- Got his start in the NFL as an offensive line assistant with the St. Louis Rams from 1996-97. That catapulted him into the position of offensive line coach with the Arizona Cardinals in 1998, a spot he held for the next five years. During his tenure with the Cardinals, Warhop tutored the group through a steady decline in quarterback sacks allowed from the 78 surrendered in 1997 – the year prior to his arrival – to 50 in 1998, 45 in 1999, 35 in 2000 and 29 in 2001.
- Entered the coaching arena in 1983 as a student assistant at his alma mater, the University of Cincinnati. He then served on the offensive staffs at the University of Kansas (1984-86), Vanderbilt University (1987-89) and the University of New Mexico (1990-91). From 1991-92, he was the offensive coordinator for the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football, helping that team to a World Bowl title in 1991. He had a pair of stops as an offensive line coach at the collegiate level, at SMU (1993) and Boston College (1994-95) before embarking on his NFL career.
- Warhop was a standout offensive lineman at Rubidoux High School in Riverside, Calif., and went on to play guard at Mount San Jacinto (Calif.) College before moving on to the University of Cincinnati, where he played center.
- He and his wife, Lori, have one son, Jacob, and one daughter, Olivia.
