
John Carr

Biography
- John Carr joined the Browns as chief of staff in 2026. He brings more than 25 years of experience at the prep, junior college and collegiate levels.
- Carr previously crossed paths with head coach Todd Monken at Southern Mississippi where he served as the director of football operations from 2013-15 and managed team travel, event operations, fundraising projects, clinics and camps.
- Prior to joining the Browns, Carr spent the last two years at the prep level as the head coach of Starkville High School in 2025 and Clinton High School in 2024.
- From 2022-23, Carr spent two seasons at University of Louisiana Monroe where he served as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator. Â
- Before joining the Warhawks, Carr spent three seasons as the assistant head coach and inside receivers coach at Troy (2019-21) and added the title of passing game coordinator prior to the 2021 season.
- In 2018, Carr served as the wide receivers coach at Louisiana Monroe where he worked with WR Marcus Green who earned an All-Sun Belt first team selection and became an NFL draft pick.
- Before beginning his first stint at ULM, Carr worked for two seasons as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Jones College from 2016-18. In addition to his play-calling responsibilities, he also coached the quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends.
- Carr began his coaching career at West Ouachita High School in 1996 and made stops at Ouachita Parish High School (1997), West Monroe High School (1999-2001), Neville High School, East Mississippi Community College (2004) and Ouachita Parish High School (2005-12).
- Native of Ruston, La., Carr attended Louisiana Tech University where he played wide receiver. Carr received his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Louisiana Tech in 1996 and earned a master's degree in administration and supervision from University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2001.
- He and his wife, Paige, have two daughters, Anna and Emma. His father, Roger, had a 10-year NFL career as a wide receiver.
