Browns claim Nick McDonald

BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns on Tuesday claimed OL Nick McDonald off waivers from San Diego. General Manager Ray Farmer made the announcement.

McDonald is a 6-4, 306-pound veteran entering his third NFL season out of Grand Valley State. Originally signed by Green Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2010, McDonald has appeared in 16 games with three starts. He has seen action at right guard, left guard and center.

He appeared in 12 games with one start with the Patriots in 2012. He was waived by New England during final roster cuts prior to last season. He signed with the Chargers this past offseason on Jan. 16.

McDonald appeared in four regular-season games and two postseason contests with New England in 2011, after being inactive for all 16 games during his rookie season with Green Bay.

He appeared in 44 games with 29 starts at Grand Valley State, leading the Lakers to the Division III National Championship game as a senior in 2009. A native of Sterling Heights, Mich., McDonald graduated from Henry Ford High School.
