Browns elevate TE Matt Lengel to 53-man roster

The Cleveland Browns have signed TE Matt Lengel (pronounced LENG-guhl) to the active roster from the practice squad. In addition, the team signed OL Victor Salako (pronounced suh-LAY-koh) to the practice squad.

Lengel is 6-7, 265 pounds and in his second NFL season out of Eastern Kentucky, Originally signed by Cincinnati as an undrafted free agent in 2015, he spent all of 2015 and the first eight weeks of the 2016 season as a member of the Bengals' practice squad before being added to New England's active roster on Nov. 2. Lengel appeared in six regular-season games for the Patriots last season, as well as all three of the team's postseason games, including Super Bowl LI. He finished the year with two receptions for 22 yards and one touchdown. A native of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Lengel was signed to the Browns' practice squad on Oct. 10. He will wear No. 89.

Salako is a 6-5, 316 pound rookie out of Oklahoma State. Originally signed by Philadelphia as an undrafted free agent, Salako spent one week this season on the Eagles' practice squad. He started every game at left tackle his final two years at OSU. Salako is a native of Huntsville, Ala.
