BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns on Wednesday signed OL Joe Madsen. General Manager Ray Farmer made the announcement.
In addition, the club placed DB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu and TE Randall Telfer on active/non-football injury and placed DL Tory Slater on active/physically unable to perform.
Madsen is 6-3, 310-pounds and officially in his first NFL season out of West Virginia. Originally signed by the Steelers as undrafted free agent in 2013, Madsen spent three weeks last season on the Packers practice squad during the postseason. He also played for the Los Angeles KISS in the Arena Football League in 2014. A native of Chardon, Ohio, Madsen graduated from Chardon High School.
Ekpre-Olomu, Telfer and Tory Slater count toward the active roster and are eligible to be activated upon passing a physical. Earlier this summer, undrafted free agent signee OL Tyler Loos notified the club of his retirement. The Browns roster is currently at the maximum of 90 players.
