Former Browns offensive lineman Roger Chanoine passed away Friday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 39.

Chanoine played four seasons for the Browns from 1999-2002, starting all 16 games at right tackle in 2001.

After football, Chanoine remained an engaged member in the Cleveland community, most recently as a sales manager at the Broadview Heights-based Konica Minolta Business Solutions.

Chanoine addressed the Browns during OTAs this past May after head coach Hue Jackson invited alumni members to watch practice in Berea.

A native of Newark, New Jersey, Chanoine played college football at Temple before joining the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent in 1998. He was picked up by Cleveland a year later.

Chanoine played a total of five seasons in the NFL, appearing in 33 games for the Browns and making 18 starts over that span. He also briefly played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2002.

Chanoine is survived by his wife, Yolanda. His funeral is set for Saturday morning at the Pentecostal Church of Christ in Cleveland.
