Browns sign 6th-round pick DB Charles Gaines

The Cleveland Browns on Monday signed sixth-round pick defensive back Charles Gaines. General Manager Ray Farmer made the announcement.

Gaines, who played college football at Louisville, is the third of the Browns' 12 draft picks to sign, joining tight Randall Telfer and linebacker Nate Orchard, who were inked last week.

Played in 33 games at Louisville…Converted to cornerback after playing wide receiver as a freshman…Totaled 11 receptions for 172 yards and a TD as a freshman…\Finished with 58 career tackles, 17 passes defensed, seven interceptions and 117 interception-return yards…Led the team in interceptions in 2013 (five) and passes defensed in 2014 (nine)…Scored a TD on an interception return, punt return and kickoff return as a junior…Attended Miami Central High School in Miami, Fla.
