2020 NFL Draft

Browns select Michigan WR Donovan Peoples-Jones with No. 187 pick in 2020 NFL Draft

The Browns on Saturday selected Michigan WR Donovan Peoples-Jones in the sixth round with the No. 187 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

"I'm very excited," Peoples-Jones said. "I just needed one chance and I am very thankful to the Browns and their organization for giving me that chance and I can not wait to be a part of the team."

Peoples-Jones, a Detroit native, caught 34 passes for 438 yards and six touchdowns this past season. In 2018, he had 47 receptions, 612 yards and eight touchdowns while also starring as a punt returner.

Peoples-Jones was a five-star recruit out of Detroit's Cass Tech. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound Peoples-Jones was Michigan's Gatorade Player of the Year and was ranked by some scouting services as the nation's No. 1 wide receiver prospect.

"With Donovan, we got a player that has played outside and inside," Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said. "I think there is versatility with this player in terms of where you can play him in the formation. Having return ability and having a history in the return game helps. I do think he has the physical skillset to be a special teamer. There is a lot this kid can do. Then, it is going to be a matter of him showing it to us."

Peoples-Jones said he'd already gotten a chance to meet both Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, Cleveland's leading Pro Bowl receivers.

"I actually was getting some tips from Jarvis while I was down in Florida training for the NFL Combine," Peoples-Jones said. "So me and him had started to develop our relationship and those guys are Pro Bowl guys, I just can not wait to learn from them.

"Personally, I love competition. Personally I rise when the competition rises. Those are two of the best receivers in the NFL. I am so thankful for this opportunity to come to Cleveland. I really can not wait."

The Browns do not have any more picks currently lined up in the 2020 NFL Draft.
