2020 NFL Draft

ClevelandBrowns.com 2016 mock draft

Patience paid off for the unveiling of ClevelandBrowns.com's one and only 2016 mock draft.

Had we gone through this exercise, say, two weeks ago, just about everything would have been different. The same could be said for just last week, as Cleveland followed the lead of Tennessee and traded out of its top spot to Philadelphia, which, like the Rams, is looking to snag a quarterback in the first 30 minutes of the 2016 NFL Draft.

So now, with just about 48 hours to go until the Rams kick off the draft with the first overall pick, it's safe for us to take our educated guesses at who the Browns will snag at No. 8 and what else is going to transpire in Round 1. As a bonus, we're including our picks for the Browns at No. 32, the first pick in Friday's second round.

Nathan Zegura - Cleveland Browns Daily

  1. Los Angeles Rams - QB Jared Goff (Cal)
  1. Philadelphia Eagles - QB Carson Wentz (North Dakota State)
  1. San Diego Chargers - OT Laremy Tunsil (Ole Miss)
  1. Dallas Cowboys - DB Jalen Ramsey (Florida State)
  1. Jacksonville Jaguars - DL Joey Bosa (Ohio State)
  1. Baltimore Ravens - OL Ronnie Stanley (Notre Dame)
  1. San Francisco 49ers - DE DeForest Buckner (Oregon)

8. MIAMI DOLPHINS (mock trade with Browns) - RB Ezekiel Elliott (Ohio State)

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DB Vernon Hargreaves III (Florida)
  1. New York Giants - LB Myles Jack (UCLA)
  1. Chicago Bears - LB Leonard Floyd (Georgia)
  1. New Orleans Saints - OL Jack Conklin (Michigan State)

13. NEW YORK JETS (mock trade with Browns) - QB Paxton Lynch (Memphis)

  1. Oakland Raiders - DB William Jackson III (Houston)
  1. Tennessee Titans - OL Taylor Decker (Ohio State)
  1. Detroit Lions - DL Sheldon Rankins (Louisville)
  1. Atlanta Falcons - LB Darron Lee (Ohio State)
  1. Indianapolis Colts - LB Noah Spence (Eastern Kentucky)
  1. Buffalo Bills - DL Robert Nkemdiche (Ole Miss)

20. CLEVELAND BROWNS - WR Josh Doctson (TCU) - There is no bigger need for the Browns than the one at wide receiver. Doctson is the top receiver on many boards and is better suited to the vertical passing game than the physical Laquon Treadwell. The Browns trade back twice in this scenario, landing multiple early round picks in the process and still get the top player at their biggest position of need.

  1. Washington Redskins - DL Jarran Reed (Alabama)
  1. Houston Texans - WR Will Fuller (Notre Dame)
  1. Minnesota Vikings - WR Laquon Treadwell (Ole Miss)
  1. Cincinnati Bengals - WR Corey Coleman (Baylor)
  1. Pittsburgh Steelers - DB Artie Burns (Miami)
  1. Seattle Seahawks - OL Jason Spriggs (Indiana)
  1. Green Bay Packers - TE Hunter Henry (Arkansas)
  1. Kansas City Chiefs - DE Shaq Lawson (Clemson)
  1. Arizona Cardinals - DB Eli Apple (Ohio State)
  1. Carolina Panthers - DL Kevin Dodd (Clemson)
  1. Denver Broncos - QB Connor Cook (Michigan State)

32. CLEVELAND BROWNS - LB Reggie Ragland (Alabama) - All great 3-4 defenses are stout up the middle and have a playmaking inside linebacker. Ragland is by far the best player on the board here and the Browns get a talented defender who should anchor the middle of their defense for years to come. Note - if the Browns do not select a receiver with their first pick, I would take a receiver here, or move back a little in the second round and take a receiver there.

Andrew Gribble - ClevelandBrowns.com

  1. Los Angeles Rams - QB Jared Goff (Cal)
  1. Philadelphia Eagles - QB Carson Wentz (North Dakota State)
  1. San Diego Chargers - OT Laremy Tunsil (Ole Miss)
  1. Dallas Cowboys - DB Jalen Ramsey (Florida State)
  1. Jacksonville Jaguars - DL Joey Bosa (Ohio State)
  1. Baltimore Ravens - DL DeForest Buckner (Oregon)
  1. San Francisco 49ers - OL Ronnie Stanley (Notre Dame)

8. MIAMI DOLPHINS (mock trade with Browns) - RB Ezekiel Elliott (Ohio State)

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - LB Leonard Floyd (Georgia)
  1. New York Giants - DB Vernon Hargreaves III (Florida)
  1. Chicago Bears - LB Myles Jack (UCLA)
  1. New Orleans Saints - LB Darron Lee (Ohio State)

13. CLEVELAND BROWNS (mock trade with Miami) - WR Laquon Treadwell (Ole Miss) - It's the big, reliable receiver who can make the tough catches on third down and in the red zone Cleveland missed on last year's team. Is it maybe a little early for Treadwell? Maybe, but another trade down would make it risky.

  1. Oakland Raiders - DB William Jackson III (Houston)
  1. Tennessee Titans - OL Jack Conklin (Michigan State)
  1. Detroit Lions - DL Sheldon Rankins (Louisville)
  1. Atlanta Falcons - LB Reggie Ragland (Alabama)
  1. Indianapolis Colts - OL Taylor Decker (Ohio State)
  1. Buffalo Bills - DL Shaq Lawson (Clemson)
  1. New York Jets - QB Paxton Lynch (Memphis)
  1. Washington Redskins - C Ryan Kelly (Alabama)
  1. Houston Texans - WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
  1. Minnesota Vikings - WR Corey Coleman (Baylor)
  1. Cincinnati Bengals - WR Will Fuller (Notre Dame)
  1. Pittsburgh Steelers - DB Eli Apple (Ohio State)
  1. Seattle Seahawks - DL A'Shawn Robinson (Alabama)
  1. Green Bay Packers - DL Jarran Reed (Alabama)
  1. Kansas City Chiefs - S Karl Joseph (West Virginia)
  1. Arizona Cardinals - OLB Kamalei Correa (Boise State)
  1. Carolina Panthers - DL Kevin Dodd (Clemson)
  1. Denver Broncos - OL Germain Ifedi (Texas A&M)

32. CLEVELAND BROWNS - S Vonn Bell (Ohio State) - The Browns are down two safeties from last year's starting lineup and are in a position to take the best player available, regardless of position. That player is Bell, who will be the sixth Buckeye off the board.

Patrick Maks - ClevelandBrowns.com

  1. Los Angeles Rams - QB Jared Goff (Cal)
  1. Philadelphia Eagles - QB Carson Wentz (North Dakota State)
  1. San Diego Chargers - OT Laremy Tunsil (Ole Miss)
  1. Dallas Cowboys - RB Ezekiel Elliott (Ohio State)
  1. Jacksonville Jaguars - DL Joey Bosa (Ohio State)
  1. Baltimore Ravens - DB Jalen Ramsey (Florida State)
  1. San Francisco 49ers - OL Ronnie Stanley (Notre Dame)

8. CLEVELAND BROWNS - LB Myles Jack (UCLA) Jack is one of the most athletic players in the draft, and his versatility fits in well with what the Browns are trying to do on defense. While questions remain over whether his knee — which needed surgery for a torn meniscus last season — will curtail his professional football career, Jack could be a game-changer on defense.

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DB Vernon Hargreaves III (Florida)
  1. New York Giants - DE DeForest Buckner (Oregon)
  1. Chicago Bears - LB Leonard Floyd (Georgia)
  1. New Orleans Saints - DE Shaq Lawson (Clemson)
  1. Miami Dolphins - DB Eli Apple (Ohio State)

  1. New York Jets - LB Reggie Ragland (Alabama)
  1. Washington Redskins - DT Jarran Reed (Alabama)
  1. Houston Texans - WR Laquon Treadwell (Ole Miss)
  1. Minnesota Vikings - WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
  1. Cincinnati Bengals - WR Corey Coleman (Baylor)
  1. Pittsburgh Steelers - CB Mackensie Alexander (Clemson)
  1. Seattle Seahawks - DT Javon Hargrave (South Carolina)
  1. Green Bay Packers - TE Hunter Henry (Arkansas)
  1. Kansas City Chiefs - WR Will Fuller (Notre Dame)
  1. Arizona Cardinals - CB William Jackson III (Houston)
  1. Carolina Panthers - CB Artie Burns (Miami)
  1. Denver Broncos - S Vonn Bell (Ohio State)
  1. CLEVELAND BROWNS - WR Michael Thomas (Ohio State) — Hue Jackson has gone on the record and said he wants bigger/faster receivers. You're getting both in Thomas, who proved to be a reliable playmaker for the Buckeyes.

Matt Wilhelm - Cleveland Browns Daily

  1. Los Angeles Rams - QB Jared Goff (Cal)
  1. Philadelphia Eagles - QB Carson Wentz (North Dakota State)
  1. San Diego Chargers - OL Laremy Tunsil (Ole Miss)

  1. Baltimore Ravens - OL Ronnie Stanley (Notre Dame)
  1. San Francisco 49ers - Jack Conklin (Michigan State)

8. CLEVELAND BROWNS - RB Ezekiel Elliott (Ohio State) - If he doesn't go to Dallas at No. 4, he'll fall to the Browns. Sashi Brown, Paul Depodesta and Andrew Berry's mindset is best player available, and he'll be best player available at this spot.

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DB Vernon Hargreaves III (Florida)
  1. New York Giants - LB Leonard Floyd (Georgia)
  1. Chicago Bears- LB Darron Lee (Ohio State)

  1. Carolina Panthers - DE Emmanuel Ogbah (Oklahoma State)
  1. Denver Broncos - QB Connor Cook (Michigan State)

32. CLEVELAND BROWNS - WR Laquon Treadwell (Ole Miss) - He's a solid possession receiver and will be the best available at the position at the time with others all off the board in the first round.
