2020 NFL Draft

Experts grade the Browns draft

NFL draft grades this early are like a student receiving a report card during their first week of school. We still don't know exactly how these players will pan out.

But of the 32 NFL teams, there weren't many who received higher accolades than the Cleveland Browns. After scoping the Internet, here's what the experts had to say about general manager Ray Farmer and the organization's 12 new rookies.

Grade: B

What he wrote

*"The Browns made a predictable and smart pick with Danny Shelton at No. 12, and I think he helps them shore up a leaky run defense immediately." *

Grade: A

What they wrote

"Duke Johnson will be a flashy addition to the Browns' tailback committee; taking "luxury picks" is an ideal way to maximize a glut of selections. Cooper is another big defensive lineman that head coach Mike Pettine will find ways to deploy."

*

Grade: Grouped in among four other teams as winners of the draft

What they wrote

*After temptation to possibly package picks for Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, Cleveland hoarded picks and ended up with 12 selections, including two "safe" players in the first round with nose tackleDanny Shelton and offensive linemanCameron Erving. *

Grade: B-

*"Is there a player better suited to this division than Danny Shelton? He'll give the Browns a great boost in the middle of the defense." *  SI.com

Grade: B-

"The obvious sleeper is seventh-rounder Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. His pre-Rose Bowl knee injury caused a devastating draft slide. He was en route to Round 1 before that setback, so look out if he ever reclaims his old form."
