Pregame Notes:

St. Vincent-St. Mary and Tri-Valley meet for a chance to advance to the Division III State Championship in the Ohio High School Football Playoffs.

Tri-Valley, led by Coach Justin Buttermore, will attempt to avenge their only loss of the season to St. Vincent-St. Mary.  In the Week 1 matchup, St. Vincent-St. Mary defeated Tri-Valley 21-13 at Jack Anderson Stadium (Tri-Valley High School).  The Scotties fell down by 14 early in the game and was unable to overcome the early deficit.  The Scotties were able to rush for 141 yards against the Irish and gained a total of 230 yards.  After the early season defeat, the Scotties were able to run off a 12-game win streak to put them in a rematch with St. Vincent-St. Mary.  Last week Tri-Valley defeated Bishop Harley Hawks in a close game, 13-9, to advance to the State Semifinals.

Traditional powerhouse St. Vincent, St. Mary (St. V-M's), led by Coach Dan Boarman, will lead the Fighting Irish into the Division III State Semifinals on Friday night after defeating the Canfield Cardinals 13-0 last week in the Region 9 Finals.  St. V-M's has won four of the past six regional championships.  The Fighting Irish are led by a strong defense, giving up only 14 points per game in the regular season.  The defense has been even stingier in the post season, allowing only 11 points per game.  The Fighting Irish will look to control the line of scrimmage and play mistake free football in order to defeat the Tri-Valley Scotties a second time this season.

This will be a rematch of two great programs, with the chance to advance to the State Championships in Canton, OH.

Good luck to both teams and stay tuned for a post-game report.
