The Browns lost to the Bills, 31-7, on Saturday afternoon at Huntington Bank Field in their second preseason game.
QB Shedeur Sanders played the first half and threw for 74 yards with one touchdown and one interception. QB Deshaun Watson filled in during the third quarter and played some of the fourth, finishing the game with 35 yards and one interception.
Key Moments
Browns and Bills trade opening drive touchdowns
On the opening drive of the game, QB Kyle Allen completed two passes to WR Trent Sherfield Sr. for a combined 35 yards. A pass interference call against CB Tre Avery in the end zone allowed RB Ray Davis to cap off Buffalo's drive with a 1-yard touchdown run.
Cleveland answered back to tie the game on its first drive of the game. Sanders connected with TE Blake Whiteheart for a 16-yard gain on fourth-and-2. Four plays later, Sanders found WR Luke Floriea in the back of the end zone for the Browns' touchdown.
Bills force turnover in the red zone
The Browns marched to the red zone midway through the second quarter courtesy of a 23-yard reception from Floriea on third-and-15 and a defensive pass interference on CB Toriano Pride Jr.
But S Damar Hamlin intercepted a pass from Sanders intended for TE Jermaine Terryto stonewall Cleveland's attempt to take the lead.
Buffalo takes lead with late first half touchdown
With less than two minutes left in the second quarter, the Bills led a four-play, 62-yard drive. Allen connected with WR Ja'Mori Maclin for a 37-yard gain down the right sideline and WR Mecole Hardman Jr. took a screen pass nine yards into the end zone for Buffalo's second touchdown of the game.
Bills turn defense into offense
DB Te'Cory Couch intercepted Watson on a throw over the middle of the field to give Buffalo possession late in the third quarter.
On the second play of the Bills' ensuing drive, QB Shane Buechele connected with Maclin for a 71-yard touchdown to extend the lead.
Buffalo uses ground game to increase lead
The Bills increased their advantage halfway through the fourth quarter with 49 rushing yards on the drive. RB Frank Gore Jr. had four carries for 37 yards while Buechele finished the possession with a 5-yard touchdown run.
