The Browns defeated the Ravens, 13-10, with another fourth quarter comeback and game-winning drive. With the win, the Browns jump to 4-2 on the season and are in first place in the AFC North.Â
With the game tied 10-10 at the two-minute warning, QB Deshaun Watson orchestrated the Browns' fourth late-game comeback, capped off by a 37-yard game-winning field goal by K Andre Szmyt with no time remaining.
Key Moments
Browns lead fourth quarter game-winning drive
With the game knotted at the 2-minute warning, the Browns' offense did what they've done in each of their wins so far this season and orchestrated a game-winning drive.Â
On third-and-5, Watson found WR Jerry Jeudy over the middle of the field for a massive 33-yard gain to put the Browns into field goal range. After three runs, Szymt stepped to the plate for a chance at his second game-winning field goal of the season with 2 seconds remaining.
As the snap came, Szmyt, who had missed his previous attempt to snap his 25 consecutive field goal streak, drilled the 37-yard attempt to win the game for the Browns. The Browns rushed the field to celebrate the walk-off victory.
Audric Estime ties game with touchdown runÂ
After being signed by the Browns earlier in the week off the Vikings' practice squad, RB Audric Estimé found himself scoring the game-tying touchdown from two yards out midway through the fourth quarter. Estime bulldozed his way past the goal line for the Browns' first touchdown of the game.Â
A fumble recovery gave the Browns the ball on the Ravens' 35-yard line to set up the touchdown. After struggling to move the ball throughout the game, Watson executed a seven play, 35-yard drive to tie the game.
Browns' defense steps up in key moments
After the Ravens' first two drives of the game resulted in a touchdown and a field goal, the Browns' defense stepped up when it mattered most. They shut the Ravens' offense out for the rest of the game, proving to be the spark that the Browns needed.
When the Ravens drove the ball into field goal range in the third quarter, with the chance to extend their lead to two possessions, a big first-down sack from DE Isaiah McGuire and a tackle for loss by DE Jared Verse on third down forced a 49-yard attempt. On the ensuing field goal try, K Tyler Loop pulled the ball wide left to keep it a one possession game.Â
Down by a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, the Browns' defense needed to make a play to help spark their offense. That's when LB Carson Schwesinger stepped up, forcing a fumble that was recovered by CB Tyson Campbell on Baltimore's 35-yard line. On the Ravens' following offensive possession, CB Denzel Ward broke up a pass intended for TE Mark Andrews on third-and-3 to force a punt
Offense struggles to move the ball in first half
The Browns' offense was shut out in the first half after not being able to string positive plays together. Each of their five drives in the opening half resulted in punts, including two three-and-outs.Â
After recording only seven net yards and one first down on two possessions in the first quarter, the Browns finished the first half with 46 net yards and three first downs. Â Watson faced heavy pressure throughout the half, as the Ravens tallied three sacks and five quarterback hits. Cleveland also struggled to convert on third down, going 1-for-6 in the first two quarters.
Ravens jump out to early leadÂ
On their opening possession of the game, QB Tyler Huntley orchestrated an 11 play, 66-yard drive to give the Ravens an early lead. RB Derrick Henry rushed the ball five times for 30 yards on the opening drive.Â
To cap off the drive, Huntley rolled to his right before finding TE Josh Cuevas in the back of the end zone for the opening score of the game. Following the touchdown, the Ravens marched down the field again, courtesy of a 29-yard reception by Cuevas and a roughing-the-passer penalty on DT Maliek Collins. Loop converted on a 34-yard field goal to give Baltimore an early 10-0 lead.
