INDIANAPOLIS — When Oscar Delp officially committed to the University of Georgia in 2021, he had an idea of how head coach Kirby Smart and then-offensive coordinator Todd Monken would utilize his skillset as a tight end in their offensive scheme.
That vision became reality as Delp played for Monken during his freshman season in 2022, in which Delp played in 13 games. He caught five receptions for 61 yards and one touchdown, averaging 12.2 yards per reception. He was also a part of the national championship team when Georgia claimed the title for the 2022 season.
"It was awesome. Part of the reason (I chose Georgia) was because of Coach Monken," Delp said. "Watching what he does with the tight ends and with their offensive scheme, it's amazing, and he's an awesome guy. He's a super down-to-earth coach, and he's a guy that's going to coach you hard, and that's what I want in a coach. The way he uses tight ends and just how detailed he is in everything he does, whether it's alignments or plays and depths, it's unreal. "
While Monken returned to the NFL as the offensive coordinator for the Ravens in following the 2022 season, Delp continued to carve out his role in Georgia's offense. In his three remaining seasons at Georgia from 2023-25, Delp totaled 65 receptions for 793 receiving yards and eight touchdowns over 42 career games.
Delp now takes the next step in pursuing his NFL dream as he participates in the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. Delp is projected as a Day 3 prospect who brings short-area quickness and speed to beat defensive players on medium routes.
As Delp has gone through the different aspects of the combine, he said he had a formal interview with the Browns, among other teams.
Cleveland's tight end room currently consists of Brenden Bates, Harold Fannin Jr., David Njoku and Blake Whiteheart. However, once free agency begins on March 11, the tight end room could see changes as Bates will be an exclusive rights free agent, Njoku will be an unrestricted free agent and Whiteheart will be a restricted free agent.

Cleveland drafted Fannin in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he had a successful rookie season as he led the Browns with 72 receptions – the most every by any Browns rookie. Fannin also finished second among all NFL rookies in receptions, tied for second with six receiving touchdowns and is fourth with 731 receiving yards.
Delp expressed excitement about the idea of joining a tight ends room alongside Fannin and under Monken as the new head coach of the Browns.
"Oh, I'd love it," Delp said. "I mean, any team I'd love to be a part of, but to be able to play for Coach Monken again and all the great coaches they have on that staff would be amazing."
As Delp has met with the Browns and other NFL teams, Delp believes the way he operates in the run game and on the perimeter stands out among other tight ends prospects. He noted that for teams to have success they need tight ends that can own the "C" gap and the perimeter, aspects of his game that Delp takes pride in. He feels that Georgia's pro-style offense best prepared him to transition to the NFL, as he is witnessing the similarities between the formations and plays at Georgia and the installs he has received in different meetings with teams.
He also added that he wants teams to view him as a receiving tight end that learned how to block. Delp said he has asked teams in his meetings about the first trait they look for in a tight end, and many have shared they look for a guy who can block or is a willing blocker. Delp believes he is that guy.
Yet, Delp said he is prepared to step into any role an NFL team asks of him.
"I'm a guy that can play everywhere on offense," Delp said. "I'm not a tight end that can only block. I can get open. I can find zones. I can beat people in man, so I think just being that versatile player."
