Baker Mayfield has shot at 5th NFL Rookie of the Week award after strong performance vs. Panthers

Baker Mayfield's near-perfect performance against the Panthers earned him another shot at an NFL Rookie of the Week award.

Mayfield is one of five players up for it, joining Giants RB Saquon Barkley, Colts LB Darius Leonard, 49ers DB D.J. Reed and Bills WR Robert Foster. If Mayfield wins, it'd be the fifth time he's taken the honor home and the ninth award won this season by a Browns rookie.

Mayfield completed 18-of-22 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-20 victory over the Panthers. It marked the second time in a month Mayfield threw fewer than five incompletions. He picked up nearly half of his yards on two big throws, connecting with Breshad Perriman for 66 yards on Cleveland's first offensive play and Jarvis Landry for a 51-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

On the season, Mayfield is completing 64 percent of his passes for 2,877 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Over the past five games, he's completed 73 percent of his passes for 1,406 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.
