Browns and Eagles challenging one another on Day One out of two practices

813 article

The Browns prepare for the second week of the preseason with another set of joint practices – this time against the Eagles. On Wednesday, they kicked off joint practices with the first of two sessions. They will continue with a second joint practice on Thursday, followed by the second preseason game on Aug. 16 at 1 p.m.

The Eagles won the Super Bowl in February 2025, defeating the Chiefs 40-22. It marked their second Super Bowl victory, their first came in 2018 against the Patriots. The Browns understand the value of practicing against the reigning champions and are excited to progress due to this week's training.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski has never coached with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, but the two head coaches still have a great relationship. The Browns and Eagles have had two sets of joint practices together so far, with the Eagles coming to Cleveland in 2022 and the Browns going to Philadelphia in 2023.

"Nick does a great job with his football team," Stefanski said. "I think they are well coached. I think they have really, really good players. I made mention the other day where I think this is probably the best offensive line, defensive line in the game. So, it's a great challenge for our guys."

CB Denzel Ward took beneficial reps against a new offense, clarifying that going up against different formations is valuable for the Browns because it will prepare them for regular season play.

"I mean they obviously have a great team that just won a Super Bowl," Ward said. "So, we're looking forward to coming and competing against those guys. Just seeing where we are and how we came up for the challenge, and guys had a great day, but we still have to get back and watch the film and see how we can get better."

QB Joe Flacco said the joint practice was a learning experience. He explained that even at the NFL level, some players can get rattled in certain situations, and joint practices help test a team's mental makeup.

"The amount of reps we got today against a good football team, it was a good test for us today," Flacco said. "It was a lot of good work."

The work in Philadelphia will continue with a second day of joint practice, so stay informed on our website, social media and below.
