The Browns dropped their 10th game of the season as they fell 31-29 to the Titans in Week 14.

"Very disappointed. You got to give credit to the (Tennessee) Titans," head coach Kevin Stefanski said. "They won the game, so they made more plays than we did in the end, but just disappointed. Some of the things that happened that game, we expect more from our run defense. The giveaways there, that's not about who we are. We got to protect the ball. We had a punt blocked, and obviously not getting either the two-point plays really off is frustrating. So that's on all of us."

Here are three big takeaways from the Browns' 31-29 loss to the Titans.

Shedeur Sanders throws for over 300 yards and three touchdowns

In his third career start, QB Shedeur Sanders broke 300 passing yards for the first time in his NFL career. He completed 23 of 42 passing attempts for a career-high 364 yards and three touchdowns and recorded a rushing touchdown.

Sanders became the first Browns player to throw for at least 300 yards and have at least three touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown in a game. His 364 passing yards tied for the third-most by a Browns rookie in a game and his three touchdown passes tied for the second most.

"He fought throughout the game, which we knew he would," Stefanski said. "Obviously with any young player, there's going to be ups and downs, and I thought there were some really, really, really good moments. He'll keep learning from some of the plays that he wants back, but some really good moments."

Sanders continued to showcase his arm strength and his ability to spread the ball around as he connected with WR Jerry Jeudy for a 60-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter. He also found RB Quinshon Judkins for a 58-yard pass completion towards the end of the first quarter that set the Browns up for their first touchdown of the day to start the second quarter. Sanders threw a TE David Njoku on a 1-yard touchdown pass as Njoku dove for the ball in the end zone.

Sanders later found TE Harold Fannin Jr. for a 35-yard completion in the third quarter before he connected with Fannin in the back corner of the end zone for a 7-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

However, Sanders also threw an interception in the third quarter on a deep pass intended for WR Gage Larvadain, which the Titans turned into a touchdown on their ensuing offensive drive. The interception was Sanders' third of the season, and one of two giveaways for the Browns.

"On the interception, I'd say, I feel we stagnant," Sanders said. "I'm trying to get a spark. I'm trying to, so that's all it is. […] I would say as time goes on, those decisions and those things will slim down. And we won't be in situations where I have that feeling, like, I got to make something happen."

Browns' run defense falls short

Heading into Week 14, the Browns allowed the fewest rushing yards per game in the league with 165.2 yards per game.

However, the run defense fell short in stopping the Titans' run game, as they gave up 184 net rushing yards. RB Tony Pollard led Tennessee with 161 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. RB Tyjae Spears added key runs to move Tennessee down the field, as he finished the game with eight carries for 19 rushing yards

"That's not what we're built to do," Stefanski said. "It's not what we're about. We'll look at all of it again. It's things that we'll make sure we point it out and fix it. But give them credit, but that's something that we hang our hat on."

On the first play of the Titans' third offensive drive, Pollard broke through the defense and ran 65 yards into the end zone for their second score of the day. Then, late in the third quarter, Pollard found a running lane again as he took off for a 32-yard gain and his second rushing touchdown of the game to give the Titans a 21-17 lead.

"Especially with our run defense, it was surprising," S Grant Delpit said. "As we all know, just one person out their gap or whatever, it was open, six. And it happened twice."

Special teams miscues continue

The Browns continued to deal with mistakes on special teams that ultimately gave the Titans opportunities to score. On the opening kickoff, Cleveland gave up a 41-yard return by kickoff returner Chimere Dike that set Tennessee up at the 35-yard line. The Titans then moved the ball down the field and scored on their opening drive on a 14-yard touchdown pass to Elic Ayomanor.

Cleveland also had a special teams miscue that put the Browns' offense in tough field position. Early in the second quarter, Larvadain muffed a punt, which he recovered. However, the Browns then started their offensive drive on the nine-yard line. After 11 plays, the drive stalled and Cleveland was forced to punt.

The final special teams mistake came about halfway through the fourth quarter, as P Corey Bojorquez had a punt blocked. The Titans recovered and returned to the Cleveland 29-yard line for a seven-yard gain. Four plays later, Tennessee settled for a field goal to increase its lead to 31-17.

"It's unfortunate. It's not always going to be clean," Bojorquez said. "You got to try and limit the mistakes as much as you can play that complimentary football. And we just fell a little short."
