By the Numbers: Browns depth shows in win over Redskins

We're digging into the stats after the Browns' 30-10 win over the Washington Redskins to open the preseason.

2:13 – The Browns needed less than three minutes to score their first touchdown of the preseason. Baker Mayfield operated mostly out of the no-huddle offense and went 5-for-6 for 77 yards and a touchdown in his only drive of the game. Scary.

51 – Browns rookie Mack Wilson had about the best NFL entrance a rookie linebacker could want. The fifth-round pick intercepted Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins twice, including a 40-yard pick-six in the second quarter. The former Alabama linebacker also recorded three tackles.

98 – Wide receiver Rashard Higgins led the Browns on Thursday with 98 receiving yards in a Browns lineup that didn't feature top receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. He caught a 24-yard pass from Mayfield for the first touchdown of the game and revived the red carpet walk celebration after the score.

3 – Browns rookies intercepted three passes in their first taste of NFL action. Cornerback Greedy Williams picked off Haskins in the second quarter two drives after Wilson's pick-six. Wilson's second interception came in the fourth quarter.

37 – The Browns held the Redskins to just 37 rushing yards in the first half. The second and third teams received the majority of snaps, but the Browns still didn't allow the Redskins to produce anything from the ground.

194 – Quarterbacks Garrett Gilbert and David Blough are competing for the potential third-string quarterback role, and the duo combined for 194 yards and a touchdown. Blough's fourth-quarter touchdown to D.J. Montgomery all but sealed the victory and highlighted a solid night from the Browns' backups.

43 – Kicker Greg Joseph made the Browns' only field goal of the game from 43 yards in the second quarter. Kicker Austin Seibert went 2-for-2 in extra points, but never received a field-goal opportunity.

23 – The Browns collected 23 first downs and allowed the Redskins to move the chains just 12 times.

86 – Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi scored on an impressive 86-yard punt return in the fourth quarter. The rookie wide receiver also corralled two receptions for 15 yards.
